Help For International Movers

I salute you, International Movers! Seeking greener pastures beyond your borders can be made much simpler by doing a few simple things before the move. First, be sure items which may be misconstrued as anything illegal are all packaged together in one (or more if neccessary) container, for easy access by the officials of the country you are entering. They have the right to inspect anything they feel like inspecting, so do not pack anything which may embarrass you. Also make sure all your documents are in order (documents for leaving your country and entering another must all be prepared beforehand) by calling the correct authorities and explaining what you are trying to accomplish. make photocopies of the passports of everyone travelling with you, specifically the Front AND BACK of the photo ID page, any licenses, and any entering documentation you may have received. Give all these copies to the company you have chosen to transport your goods, and be sure they will be with your things (with the person responsible for your things) when they reach the foreign border, or your goods will not be allowed into the country. Do Not pack any food, sometimes some is allowed, but everything will go much smoother and quicker if none is in your shipment. If you’re moving an automobile, make sure the vin numbers are clearly readable in the doorjam (first place looked) and if not, relate to your shipping company another location of the vin. If your vehicle does not meet a requirement of the country you’re entering, it will be allowed in, but you will not be able to register or drive it until the requirement has been met. If your shipment is going to travel overseas, make certain ALL containers are AIRTIGHT. this means taping all the edges and all the corners of your cartons, as well as every seam. If this is not done, upon inspection, the inspectors must claim that something could have been placed inside (or crawled inside, bug and animal control is an important part of border patrol) your packages, and must send them back to the country of origination, at your expense. Knowing these things beforehand should make your International Moving headache free. Good Luck out there.
