Consideration in this day and age??? are you kidding? I ride everyday and try to set the example of stopping at lights, making sure there are no pedestrians in the crosswalk if I am going to progress forward. The bike advicers that don’t realize that they won’t get to where they need to go much faster by being a nuisance and disregarding their surroundings irk me as much as anyone else. That said, I just as often encounter pedestrians in the bike lane, listening to an ipod but more often on their phone, talking or texting without so much as acknowledging that you just saved their necks by slowing down or stopping for them. You want to cross into a bike lane or street with your head and attention buried in your PDA or phone, you are asking for it. Texting and walking should be outlawed. Also, as a biker, I see into every car that is either at a light or inching along in traffic. About 90 % of drivers are on their phones/PDA’s reading or texting. So….consideration?? yeah right. Bikers at least contribute one thing…less traffic, less if no noxious fumes/ pollution.
