The antifungal treatment for nails is carried out through the application of antifungal nail paint. It’s of course an alternative therapy for treatment and doesn’t show as good results as the oral treatment.
Furthermore, the therapy is not effective if the infection is near the root of the nail or on the skin as well. It’s good only if infection is near the end of the nail. In this treatment, one has to be very cautious while applying the paint and ensure that it is done precisely as is prescribed.
The treatment normally takes six months for fingernail treatment and up to twelve months for a toenail treatment. There are other topical antifungal treatments for nail infections like creams, lotions, gels, and lacquers etc. which can be used.
