Warning Signs & Sleep Apnea Symptoms

The most common sleep apnea symptoms is loud and ongoing snoring.  Gasping sounds may follow any pauses in breathing.  Snoring occurs most often when the person is sleeping on his back and lessens somewhat when sleeping on his side.  This symptom  is  something that shouldn’t be overlooked and ignored.  It might signal some very mild form of sleep apnea or it might be a warning that something more serious is going on.  Not everyone who snores has sleep apnea so you need to get expert advice.  See your doctor, describe your symptoms and let him or her decide which method of treatment is best for you. He or she may prescribe a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) to assist in your breathing patterns during sleep.
