The acai berry can be found on the acai palm tree which grows in the floodplains of South America. This tree is famous for its dark purple berries that are roughly the size of a grape. The dark purple skin and the seed make up over seventy-eight percent of the berry’s mass; however, the pulp is the most valuable part of this fruit. Most Brazilians in the Amazon region consider it the most important plant grown, as it is the majority of their diet. The acai tree has two crops a year which have a variety of uses including food, pulp, juice blends, smoothies, sodas and even ice cream! North America is only now becoming aware of this near perfect fruit!
