I own a small house with one bathroom, so when we were planning on remodeling the bathroom we knew that it was going to be tough to live without it being functional for very long. With that in mind, I decided to try to plan the bathroom renovation to be completed in a weekend (pretty ambitious, but I thought it could be done).
The first problem we discovered is when I ripped down the plastic shower surround…. turns out there was nothing behind them expect for studs and mold! They secured the surround directly to the studs instead of using drywall or blue board behind it. In addition to that, there was a leak behind there that we didn’t know about, so the pipes had to be replaced. Found a plumber to replace them, but apparently he didn’t do a very good job either. After the bathroom was finished, we noticed a leak in the basement ceiling… had to rip open the walls again to fix what he supposedly fixed.
