Aquarium light bulbs should be replaced regularly. Regularly in this case means at least every 12 to 24 months. If you have plants, you should replace the bulb about every 8 to 12 months. While some animals have specific light requirements, plants generally begin to have problems in poor lighting conditions before animals do.
Do not wait until your fluorescent Aquarium Light begins to look dim to replace it. Fluorescent bulbs can begin to fail without it being noticeable to our eyes. Some vendors will send out reminders when it is time to replace your aquarium bulbs. If your vendor does not provide such a service, make a plan to replace your bulbs regularly to coincide with a recurring event. For example, you might choose to replace the lights every year when daylight savings time begins.
