Not long ago a friend of mine decided to buy a puppy for her highly allergic 7 year-old son. Considering that this is a woman who makes guests take off their shoes when entering her home and, I swear polishes her driveway, I was a tad skeptical when she mentioned the grand pet-owning plan.
But I underestimated her. She’d done her homework and decided to purchase something called a Labradoodle, which turns out to be a cross between a Labrador and a Standard Poodle. Her pup was curly, cute and, amazingly, had actually been bred with fur that tends not to aggravate allergies.
As if this wasn’t amazing enough, she’d searched on www.discoveringlabradoodles.com and located a training video created by animal trainer Chet Womach. It was so effective the pup seamlessly melded into the family with nary a chewed shoe in sight and the carpets still pristine.
My friend is happy, her son is overjoyed, the puppy is a wonderful little furball, and I am in awe of my friend’s problem-solving abilities.
