Not many people think about using eye protection when using hand tools, but my husband found out the hard way that it is important to do. While repairing a part on his boat motor, he hit a 2 metal pieces with a hammer to loosen them, as the pieces were stuck together. When he did that, a small piece of the metal chipped off and hit him right in the eye. His eye was scratched and sore for quite a while. He had to keep it covered with a patch as bright light bothered it until it healed.
